Top 5 Books of 2015!

2015 was probably my best year for reading, but probably my worst for spending the majority of my money on books that I still haven't read! After trying to decide my favourites of the year, I've managed to come up with my top five. Here they are:

The Ultimate Book Tag!

I thought I'd do a book tag as today's post because: 1. I like to answer questions haha, and 2. I thought you would like to read more about me/ maybe get suggestions of books that I talk about :)

You Deserve A Drink Book Review

I am so excited for today's post, because it features one of the best women on this planet - Mamrie Hart!
If you've been hiding under a cardboard box since 2011, Mamrie is a YouTuber that hosts a channel called "You Deserve A Drink" and it is nothing but hilarious!

As the cover mentions, this book is basically a collection of Mamrie's life experiences, from losing an eye contact while pole dancing, to setting herself on fire at a Flaming Lips concert!

Belfast Christmas Market 2015!

Hey guys! Today's post is a little different, but debatably more exciting? I think so.
Today, I went to Belfast's Annual Christmas Market and I've been waiting to go all year. For me, it marks that Christmas is close and I freaking LOVE christmas!

I headed down with my family this afternoon to catch a glimpse and the international food, gifts & of course just being around all of the gorgeous lights. If you didn't know, I adore lights. I love them all, but the twinkly fairy lights just look so damn beautiful. I could honestly stare at them all day and never get bored, kinda.

Binge Book Review

Okay, I have kind of a lot to talk about when it comes to Binge. The first thing - it's an autobiography written by Tyler Oakley, a YouTuber who I've watched for probably almost 3 years. I haven't watched every single video he has made, but I've always loved his personality, and his passion to help everyone else. The book follows experiences, whether good or bad, that he has gone through during his life.
Also, let's discuss the fact that I got a freaking signed edition??? Ahh, I am so excited!

Book Haul!

If you follow me on twitter (@distractedbooks), you'll know how much of a problem I have when it comes to buying books. I just can't stop, and I think I need to get some help before I drown in these binded papers...
Anyway, I recently bought more and I thought I'd share them with you. Let me know if you've read any of them, and what you thought!

Even when the rain is falling, there is still room to shine!

The title of this post is the caption I have provided to my painting (above). I didn’t originally intend for this painting to be as meaningful to me as it is now. But, it actually speaks more than I’d initially planned.

Me and Earl and The Dying Girl Book Review

This book follows a socially introvert male, Greg Gaines, and his best friend Earl. They spend their time making movies, based on those they have already seen. Everything is 'normal' and time passes by just how Greg likes it, until his mother forces him to rekindle his childhood friendship with Rachel, who has been diagnosed with leukemia. As much as Greg does not agree with this, he must obey. And he does. But when Greg and Earl find out that Rachel cannot recover from this illness, they decide that making one of their movies for her would be a good idea, but is it really? Let's just say, it develops a turning point in each of their lives.

Curious on stage!

Guys, I am SO excited right now. I went to see The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time last night at the Grand Opera House. It's been a whole day since I've seen it and I still cannot quite explain just how good it was. (The picture shown to the right is the t-shirt I bought from the merch shop - I love it.)

Bookshelf Tag

So, I wasn't tagged but I just like to answer questions haha!

1. Is there a book that you really want to read but haven't because you know that it'll make you cry? I don't necessarily believe I'm going to cry at any book until I reach a part and realise that the page is soaked with tears! The last time this happened was with Faking Normal by Courtney C. Stevens. It was beautiful, and I'm in love with Bodee.

Life with a Sprinkle of Glitter

This. Book. Is. Beautifully. Optimistic.

I have been watching Louise's (Sprinkle of Glitter) YouTube videos for over 2 years now. I can hand on my heart say that she is my favourite person to watch. Louise's channel focuses on a variety of topics such as beauty, life and being happy - everything I want to know more about. And with Louise, I can never get enough of it. She manages to portray a realistic lifestyle and show how everyone is able to be happy with what they have, no matter how big or little. And that is what this book is about - and more.

Get to know me!

I thought it would be a good idea to do a 'Get to know me' blog post, as this is a new blog and the only things you really know about me is my name, haha. Let's just get straight into the questions :)

1. What is your middle name? Elizabeth, like the Queen.

Top 3 favourite places to read!

Reading is one of my favourite ways to waste time. It just gives me all the feels! So, I thought it would be a good idea to show you places that I enjoy reading best :)

#1 - The beach!

There's something about the atmosphere at a beach that makes me feel inspired and motivated to just go crazy and live my life to the fullest, but let's be honest - that's not going to happen, I mean.. really. However, I will give the exception to books. I'll go crazy with those, and read 'too many' (as some would say).  The good thing about the beach near my home is that it's never really too busy, so I don't have to worry about an over-excited dog searching for a fetch friend. The picture below shows the view I have when I'm reading on the beach. Isn't it just insanely perfect?!

Hollow City

Yes, I'm only getting around to reading Hollow City now. I've been really bad with buying books lately, so I get excited and just read the first one in my reach.
I don't even know where to begin with this book. It is insanely beautiful. I'll start with Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Book #1).

My poem is in a book?!

Not quite yet. But at the end of this year, yes!

Over the past few years, 2015 in particular, I would spend most of my time stuck in another world, that an author created, hoping to one day be just like them. I mean, imagine creating a whole other distinctive world and having it thrown out into the whirl of our own. Insane.
